Careers in Documentary Editing«back to About Documentary Editing Modern documentary editing began with full-time university faculty members putting together the editions. The profession has evolved since then, and some of the larger projects have full-time staffs of six to eight people or more. Virtually all of the senior members of the staffs hold advanced degrees; most have doctorates in the discipline associated with the subject of the project. Some of these projects last forty years or more. The smaller projects are usually the work of full-time faculty members, often with help of graduate student assistants, or of independent scholars.
