Ann Gordon was honored with the Silent Sentinel Award in May 2012 by the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association for her lifetime of work in preserving, editing, and making available the writings of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The award honors those who have been instrumental in advocating for women’s equality in the U. S. Former ABC News correspondent Lynn Sherr nominated Ann, calling her “a not-so-silent sentinel for the 21st century…keeping Stanton and Anthony safe from obscurity or false interpreta-tions.” Ken Burns, director of the PBS documentary, “Not for Ourselves Alone: The Story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony,” said that Ann’s work would enable future historians to “extend all Americans’ understanding of the hugely important struggles and goals of the Founding Mothers of our nation.”
