Elizabeth Montagu Correspondence Online (EMCO) is seeking interns to participate in transcription and tagging of the letters of Elizabeth Montagu for their digital edition at https://emco.swan.ac.uk.

EMCO has displayed on its site facsimile images of around 4,000 manuscript letters from Elizabeth Montagu to a range of correspondents. These are to be transcribed using Transkribus software, then checked and corrected against the original images.

The letters are gradually being edited by section editors, and when completed are to be tagged using XML software for display on the site.

A stipend equivalent to £9 per hour worked will be provided.
