The Gouverneur Morris Papers project and The University of Virginia Press are pleased to announce the publication of the final volume of the diaries of Gouverneur Morris. The volume begins in January 1799, shortly after Morris’s return to America after a decade in Europe, and ends a month before his death in 1816. The issues that concerned (and occasionally consumed) Morris during those years include his time in the Senate; sales and development of northern New York lands; the initiation of the Erie Canal; the War of 1812; and personal and financial difficulties.

The digital edition is also available online on the University of Virginia Press ROTUNDA American Founding Era Collection website.
